Leadership

Tri-M encourages all members to lead through music, and one of the most impactful ways to do so is by serving on a committee or as part of the chapter’s officer team. These leadership opportunities allow members to take a more active role in shaping our events, service projects, and overall chapter direction. If you are interested in developing your leadership skills and making a meaningful contribution, we invite you to explore what it takes to become an officer. Officer Requirements

General Requirements for Application

  • Meet all requirements for basic membership​ - (Must maintain an A average in music classes, a B average in academic classes, must be enrolled in a music course.)

  • Members must have no suspensions or office referrals.

  • Members who did not complete their 20 required service hours the previous year are not eligible for officer positions.

  • Members must be rising juniors or seniors.

  • Members must demonstrate leadership throughout their membership.

  • Members must complete and submit the Officer Application Form found below.

  • The 2026-2027 Officer Application due date is TBD. 

Officer Positions

Vice President

  • Publicizes meetings and chapter activities

  • Helps organize the induction ceremony

  • Secondary representative of the Chapter, on and off campus

  • Assist the chapter President with chapter duties

Treasurer

  • Handles chapter financial responsibilities

  • Helps organize the induction ceremony

  • Helps the chapter President and Vice President with chapter duties â€‹

Historian

  • Keeps record of chapter activities

  • Educates new members on the history of Tri-M

  • Aids President in carrying out other responsibilities when Vice President is unavailable

Secretary

  • Records the chapter minutes

  • Handles correspondence for the chapter, including thank you letters and interactions with other Tri-M chapters

  • Reports chapter activities for the Chapter Summary Report

Website Designer

  • Update chapter website with accurate information

  • Maintain function within chapter’s website

​​

Media Representative

  • Take pictures of Tri-M volunteer activities

  • Spread awareness of the chapter and encourage membership

  • Maintain the chapter’s social media pages

  • Updates chapter's social media with upcoming event info.

Service Hours Coordinator

  • Maintain the chapter's membership directory

  • Maintain the chapter's hours logs

  • Coordinate the chapter's InnerView events postings

  • Prepares membership logs for chapter meetings (whether written, InnerView sign up, or QR Code)

Commitees

Committees are small groups of Tri-M members dedicated to planning and organizing specific aspects of the chapter's service and event efforts. Members can join a committee based on their interests - such as community outreach, fundraising, publicity, or event planning - and work together throughout the semester to improve and lead activities in that area. Committees offer members a chance to take on greater leadership responsibilities, contribute meaningful ideas, and help the chapter run more efficiently. This structure ensures that every member has a voice and a role in supporting Tri-M's mission of music, service, and excellence.
